Player Reviews and Comments

I played the demo of Cinema Tycoon 2 (and ended up purchasing). I also have Cinema Tycoon 1.

I found the game to be enjoyable. I think CT2 is an improvement over the first one and the main reason is you have goals for each level. You do not appear to be timed while doing it but it gives you some direction and hints for what things you should be focusing on. I think the controls and options are a little better in CT2 also. CT1 is mostly just sandbox mode, but it can be more difficult to play as you are not really getting much feedback. It's easy to put your efforts into misguided actions (such as spending too soon on a full staff or too many upgrades). In CT2, because you are playing with specific goals, you kinda have an idea of how much you should be spending in any one area, they also give you specific warnings on pitfalls to try to avoid. I think it may be easiest to get your feet wet with CT2 first, learn the basics, play with the feedback the game gives you and after you're a pro, THEN get CT1 where you can play in sandbox mode with little to no direction.

Anyway, I think the game is a pretty original idea in light of what else is out there and all the Build a Lot clones and I think it's a fun theme. One thing I will say about this game is that it takes more than just a minute or two to see the effects of many of your actions (unlike a lot of other games on the market) so you really have to think about the soundness of your decisions and build a little at a time. Over time you will see positive results - there don't appear to be fast but huge big fixes to your theater problems in this game (which is more realistic anyway).

A fun game and easy to lose yourself in.
